Frequently
Asked
Question

Do campers need fishing experience?

No. Camp is made to be beginner-friendly, so no prior fishing experience is needed. Campers will be taught the basics in a simple and encouraging way, including how to use a rod and reel, bait a hook, tie basic knots, and safely handle fish. Kids who already have some fishing experience are also welcome and will still have plenty of opportunities to improve and catch fish.

What should my child bring?

Campers should come dressed for the weather and ready to be outside for the full camp morning. Closed-toe shoes are recommended, and bringing a water bottle is always a good idea. If your child needs any personal items such as sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, or anything else for comfort outdoors, they should bring those as well. Fishing gear, bait, snacks, and drinks will already be provided by camp.

How does weekly signup work?

Campers sign up by week, not by individual day. Each week includes Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. I decided to do it this way so campers can stay with the same group throughout the week and build on what they learn each day instead of starting over every time.

What if my child has to miss a day?

That is completely okay. I just ask that you let me know as soon as possible if your child will be missing any of the camp days. Since camp registration is by week and spots are being held for that full week, the weekly price would still stay the same even if a camper misses a day.

What happens in bad weather?

If weather is unsafe, camp will be cancelled. Light rain may not always be an issue, but things like lightning, thunder, or heavy rain would lead to a cancellation. Safety will always come first, and families will be notified as soon as possible if weather affects camp.

What happens if a week does not fill?

Each location needs a minimum number of campers for that week to run. If a week does not fill, families will be notified before that camp week begins. Cancelled weeks will be finalized and communicated by 6PM the Friday before the camp week. (Example: if first week of camp starts on June 15 (Monday), the cancellation would be communicated via messaging by 6PM, June 12 (Friday) at the latest)

How will I know the exact meeting location?

Families who register will receive the exact locations at chosen location by 6PM the Friday before the camp week at latest.

What kinds of fish will campers try to catch?

Campers will mostly be fishing for common pond fish like bluegill and other smaller fish that are good for beginner fishing. Depending on the location, there may also be chances to catch bass, catfish, carp, and crappie. The goal is to keep the fishing active and fun for kids while still having a good chance to catch fish.

What if my child has allergies or another important personal need?

If your child has allergies, dietary restrictions, medical concerns, or anything else important that I should know, that should be included during registration. That helps me prepare ahead of time and make camp safer and smoother for everyone.
